About
My Background & Passions
I started my journey in the special education department at the University of Puerto Rico. A year later, I discovered the Speech-Language Pathologist’s career and I instantly fell in love for it. My goal to become a Bilingual Speech-Pathologist grew stronger in me everyday. I was awarded a research grant from the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA) to pursue my enthusiasm related to the language development in bilingual children, an exciting new experience for me. Later in 2003, I completed my master degree and my bilingual certification at the San Diego State University. Obtaining a Bilingual Certification in Speech-Language Pathologist has been an asset to my career as I am not only a bilingual pathologist, but I have had the formal training and education to better serve bilingual children and adults with communication challenges.
Since the completion of my educational goals, I have focused on expanding my knowledge and experience by working in a variety of settings including school districts, home-therapy, and private clinics. My focused has been the evaluation and intervention of bilingual preschool and school-age children. I have managed to evaluate more than 130 bilingual preschoolers during the course of a school year. I have also conducted programs for parents of children with autism, teacher’s in-service programs, and in-classroom intervention. I have further strength my career by participating in a great variety of continue education classes. I am passionate for my career, but even more, I am dedicated to the progress and success of my clients.
